The ignition control module is a very vital component in your vehicles electrical system that sends the electrical signal to your ignition coil or ignition coils.

When the ignition control module fails it will not allow current to your ignition coils or ignition coil.

The ignition control module is also responsible for the timing of the vehicles engine and without the ignition control module working properly your engine will get either weak spark or nor spark at all.

When an ignition control module fails your vehicle may fail to start at all or may stall at idle.

If your engine starts up fine when cold but then after it warms up stalls at idle then it's very likely your ignition control module is failing.

Your vehicles engine will also lose power or be hard to keep running and will usually immediately stall when idling.

Once you replace the ignition control module on the truck or vehicle the engine should run properly assuming the timing is all correct and your ignition coil or ignition coils and spark plugs are good.

When you replace the ignition control module you might as well replace the spark plugs and ignition coil or ignition coils as well.

And if your vehicle has a distributor cap and rotor you should replace the distributor cap and rotor if it hasn't been replaced.

Sometimes you have to remove the distributor cap and rotor anyway to get to the ignition control module so it will be best to go ahead and get a new distributor cap and rotor as well.

I always keep a spare ignition control module in my truck just in case my current one fails on the road and I need to replace it.

You can buy ignition control modules pretty cheap on ebay or on the internet.
