A mouse can only live for at most 20 seconds when they go without oxygen.

So if you take the oxygen away from the mouse or mice the mouse or mice will die within 20 seconds so it's a very quick death for a mouse to die of lack of oxygen.

If the mouse is to survive they must get oxygen within around 15 seconds or they will die 5 seconds later.

Mice also have the ability to sense oxygen through their skin and regulate the production of erythropoietin, or EPO, the hormone that stimulates our bodies to produce red blood cells and allows us to adapt to high-altitude, low oxygen levels.

Mice do need oxygen to live and without that oxygen they will die within 20 seconds which is much quicker than a human would die without oxygen.
