When a sheriff shows up to evict you and you're still there at the residence then the sheriff will serve you with some eviction papers.

The sheriff will ask you to peacefully leave and allow the landlord to change the locks.

So if you're asked to leave peacefully by the sheriff it's best to just get your stuff and move out without causing any trouble.

If you still won't leave then you can be arrested and taken to jail and be forcibly removed from the premises which is not worth it.

The sheriff is not just gonna leave without removing you from the premises when they get a court order to evict you.

A sheriff can also sometimes show up on a weekday or whenever you're not home and even if you're not home the sheriff can allow the landlord to change the locks during those days to prevent you from getting back into the apartment or house.
