An engine in a car or truck or other vehicle that bogs down or hesitates when accelerating or giving it gas can be caused by several different things.
The most common causes of a cars engine bogging down when accelerating or giving it gas is due to the engine either sucking too much air, not getting enough fuel, or misfiring.
It could be that the engine has a vacuum leak, or has low fuel pressure from a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump.
Or if the engine is misfiring causing it to bog down it could be caused by bad spark plugs, bad ignition control module, bad ignition coils, bad spark plug wires or even a bad distributor or distributor cap and rotor if your car is the distributor type.
Although newer vehicles have no distributor but older cars and trucks did have them.
