Fuel filters on cars and other vehicles last between 30,000 to 50,000 miles or 2 to 5 years.
The more often you drive your vehicle the less time your cars fuel filter will last and the more often the fuel filter will need changed.
My fuel filters I change every 2 years as preventative maintenance although the fuel filter could probably go longer than that.
When your fuel filter goes bad and becomes clogged or partially clogged it can cause things such as engine stalling, loss of engine power, poor acceleration, engine sputtering, hard engine starting or engine stalling when under load.
If your fuel pump is good but you're not getting enough fuel to the fuel injectors then the fuel filter is likely partially clogged and should be replaced.
I replace my fuel filters before there is a problem when I have the truck up on the lift or the car on the lift doing other maintenance.
A fuel filter for my truck and car costs around $10.00 to $15.00 at most so it's worth replacing it to keep the vehicle running smooth.
