Yes spark plugs can cause a car to fail to start.

Spark Plugs create the spark from the ignition coils to ignite the fuel mixture in the combustion engine and if you cannot get enough spark then the engine can fail to start or be hard to start.

If you haven't replaced your engines spark plugs after 100,000 miles then it's time to change the spark plugs because they're either fouled or have just worn out.

If your car is failing to start replacing the spark plugs can help but it can also be other things such as fuel pressure, bad ignition coils, bad spark plug wires, water in the fuel or something else internally with the engine.

If the spark plugs don't fix the car starting problem then it can be something else and I would recommend having a mechanic run a computer diagnostic test on the vehicle to see what it actually is.

But yes if spark plugs are bad then can prevent a car from starting so I would check that first and if they haven't been replaced in 100,000 miles then it's time to change them anyway.
