I've always let dogs sleep with me ever since I was a kid and nothing bad has happened.
I still let my dog sleep in the same bed with me at night because he loves to be near me and nothing is wrong with sleeping with your dog.
Some dogs prefer to sleep in a separate dog bed while other dogs may like to sleep in the same bed with you and if there is enough room for the dog to sleep in the same bed with you then it's perfectly fine.
I also have a cat that loves to sleep in the same bed as me and my dog and that's okay too and there's nothing bad that's gonna happen when you sleep with dogs or cats as many people do so all the time.
