Some Wind Turbines can stand up to the tornadoes as long as it's not too close to the wind turbine however if the tornado does get close enough or come into contact with the wind turbine it can destroy the wind turbine and rip the wind turbine blades off and send them flying through the air.

There was a video on Youtube showing a wind turbine in Kansas getting destroyed by a tornado and it showed the blades being ripped apart from it.

However some of the other wind turbines nearby were not destroyed or harmed but at least one or two wind turbines were destroyed.

Here's a link to the Youtube video of a Tornado versus a wind turbine in Kansas.

During high speed winds the wind turbines are usually stopped by moving the blades when a high wind storm is about to happen to prevent damage.

But the wind turbines are insured so they can easily be replaced or repaired when they do suffer damage.
