Yes you're allowed to camp anywhere you want to in a national forest but when you camp anywhere in a national forests you will be camping in the national forest without any hookups or services.

The term is dispersed camping and dispersed camping in the national forests means they'll be no services such as trash removal, and little or no facilities such as tables and fire pits, are provided.

You also will not have water hookups or electricity hookups in the dispersed camping areas of the national forests but it's sometimes great to g out and do dispersed camping without all the modern facilities.

It's usually pretty peaceful when out disperse camping in the national forest and is great for your mental health as well.
