If the pots and pans are non stick pots and pans then it's best to wash those non stick pots and pans by hand because the dishwasher can remove and damage the non stick coating.
So as long as the pots and pans are the non stick type then it would be safe to place the pots and pans in the dishwasher.
I've ruined a few pots and pans that were non stick by using the dishwasher to wash them so now I wash the non stick pots and pans by hand and let the dishwasher handle the other pots and pans and my other dishes.
The pans were still usable but lost it's non stick surface.
