When you buy a condo and pay a condo association fee the condo association fees you pay are for the upkeep of the property such as landscaping, swimming pools, lawn mowing, security, building maintenance and other repairs to the building.
So you're paying the condo association the condo fees to keep the property up so you do not have to do so yourself.
But when you buy a condo you'll be taxed separately for your real estate property taxes just like you would a home.
In my condo I was sent a regular property tax bill from the county where I had to send in the condo real estate taxes.
So you'll be paying real estate taxes on your condo and the main property owner would pay real estate taxes on the land and part of the building.
