When you have Laser Eye Surgery you should get better vision and have no long term problems from the laser eye surgery if it was done correctly.
I've had laser eye surgery and my vision improve a lot and I no longer need to wear contacts or eyeglasses which is nice.
I did have a bit of blurry vision for a few days after the laser eye surgery was done but the doctor said that it was normal to sometimes have a bit of blurry vision and it should improve within a few days.
After a few days the blurry vision went away and I was able to see much better than I could before I had the laser eye surgery.
Your risk of going blind from laser eye surgery is very low so I wouldn't worry and your laser eye surgeon will evaluate you and your eyes to make sure you're a fit for the laser eye surgery before doing the laser eye surgery.
In my opinion there really are no disadvantages to the laser eye surgery and many advantages which is mainly improved vision and no longer needing to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses.
