As long as the tooth infection is not too severe most times the tooth infection will go away on it's own without treatment within a few days to a week.
But if the tooth infection is more severe and lasts longer than a week then I would advise seeing a dentist about it because when a tooth infection does become too severe it can lead to heart disease and even a possible heart attack.
When you have a tooth infection your bodies immune system starts fighting back and then your gums become inflamed and swollen as a result.
If the tooth infection is left untreated it can then overtime eat away at your gums and bone structure that hold your teeth in place because when your tooth is infected and your gums are swollen it releases a chemical and that chemical that is being released is what eats away at your gums and bone structure.
That can then lead to severe gum disease as well as a condition known as periodontitis which can lead to other problems in your body as well as cause you to lose your teeth because your teeth can eventually start cracking and falling apart and may even fall out completely.
So you need to take care of your teeth to keep them healthy and prevent bacteria from staying inside your mouth and get regular dental checkups to make sure everything is going okay.
If you do have a severe tooth infection or just a tooth infection in general it's a good idea to let a dentist know about it and make an appointment with the dentist so they can take care of the tooth infection before it causes more severe problems.
