Yes the red tailed hawk is a very territorial hawk and is very suspicious of humans if they get near them.

If you see a red tailed hawk you should avoid getting too close to the red tailed hawk because they could fly towards you and attack you.

That is especially true if you happen to get near a red tailed hawks nest and their eggs or baby hawks as they will be very territorial and protective of the mother and their young and the mother red tailed hawk will also be very protective.

Most times though if you leave the red tailed hawk alone and do not get near them or their nests or babies then the red tailed hawk will mostly leave you alone and not harm you.

But they are very territorial so be very careful around those red tailed hawks or any hawks in general to be safe.
