Pet Insurance premiums will usually always increase when you make a claim on the pet insurance.
So only use the pet insurance if absolutely needed and if you can easily cover the cost of the vet visit out of pocket it's best to do that even though you're paying for pet insurance.
Also do note that pet insurance does not cover any preexisting conditions that the dog had prior to the pet insurance and will only cover emergency visits or any other conditions that warrant a vet visit after the pet insurance has been in place.
Also you can not usually make a claim on the pet insurance for up to 14 days after you get the policy.
