Yes blood work is always necessary before your dog has any surgery performed or goes under any anesthesia.

So if you take your dog for neutering then the dog will go under anesthesia before the neutering work is performed so the vet will draw blood and perform a blood test before the dog is neutered.

Having the blood work done on your dog can cost $100.00 to $300.00 and then the cost of the surgery and for neutering that would come out of pocket because it's not a medical necessity where the pet insurance would pay for it.

The dog neutering surgery can cost as low as $50.00 to as high as $300.00 depending on the vet that does the neutering and the size of the dog.

Larger dogs usually cost more to neuter than smaller dogs.

I recently sterilized my dog at the veterinarian, I was very sorry for my pet, but it was necessary. Neutering your dog includes procedures to remove your pet's gender. These treatments help reduce and control unwanted sexual behavior, population, and growth. I couldn’t agree to neutering my soak for a very long time, but after reading the article on neutering for dogs , I learned that neutering also helps reduce the likelihood of conditions or diseases such as pyometra and other uterine infections.
