If your brakes are squeaking when you stop the vehicle then it could mean that the brakes are worn out and need replaced or the rotors or brake drums are glazed.

You could be also hearing the squeaking when stopping due to missing anti squeak shims but if the brakes have just started squeaking when stopping has never done it before you need to get the brakes checked.

Squeaking brakes are not normal and could be leading to a dangerous situation.

If the brake pads have been replaced but not the rotors or brake drums then either the brake rotors or brake drums could be glazed due to heat and need replaced.

If the brakes are in good condition and are still squeaking they may just need time to break in and wear down part of the brake pad and they should stop squeaking.

You can apply some silicone lubricant to the back of the brake pads to help with the squeaking but if it continues to squeak get a brake shop or other auto shop to check the brakes.
