Can low compression cause misfire?

Yes low engine compression can cause a misfire even if just one engine cylinder has an engine misfire it can be caused by low engine compression.

The engine needs the proper amount of compression to run properly and ignite the fuel correctly and without the proper compression it won't run right.

If you've checked other things such as spark plugs, ignition coils, spark plug wires etc and it still has a misfire on one or more cylinders it could be that the engine has low compression.

Low compression can be caused by bad piston rings which require disassembly of the engine to replace so in most cases it's better to either buy another vehicle or get a new or different engine to install in the car.
