A car can be driven without power steering but it becomes harder to control the vehicle so it's not recommended to continue driving the car with the bad steering pump.

At one time cars did not even have power steering but it was very hard to steer the vehicle and keep it under control but it was still possible.

If your power steering pump is going bad you should use caution when driving the vehicle because it will be harder to turn the steering wheel and it could damage the rack and pinion as well.

I would recommend getting the power steering pump replaced or fixed as soon as possible so you don't risk losing control of your vehicle.

A few years ago a power steering pump went out on my truck and it was hard to steer but I made it home the 15 miles but I would not recommend driving the vehicle like that because it makes it harder to control and was not a fun experience and I had to drive a bit slower.
