I stack some firewood against my house during the winter months under a carport that is attached to the side of my house.
I stack it there when winter gets here so that it will be dry and ready to burn and will be easy to bring the firewood inside a little at a time since it's close to my house.
When it's not winter though I leave the firewood away from my house to prevent bugs from gathering around my house but it's not a problem when I'm constantly burning the firewood that is close to my house so it doesn't sit there near my house too long for it to be a problem.
So during the summer I would stack the firewood away from the house to keep bugs away and then bring it near the house once winter sets in so it will be close to bring into the house to burn.
