The normal cold virus typically lasts from 7 to 10 days and there's no cure for the common cold.
However you can do some things to help ease the symptoms of the cold and help with the congestion such as staying hydrated, using a humidifier, or take a steamy hot shower, take over the counter cold and pain medications and get plenty of rest.
Also eat foods that contain Vitamin C which also helps to boost your bodies immune system to help fight off the cold virus.
If the cold virus lasts longer than 10 days or it seems to be getting worse then you might want to see your doctor about it just in case it might be a more serious virus but usually the cold virus goes away within 10 days.
