The most common cause of brake calipers failing is due to worn seals causing the pistons to leak out brake fluid.

Overtime the seals that seal the around the pistons of the brake calipers get worn out and then they start leaking fluid even just a little bit.

The leaking brake fluid can cause brake calipers to fail and cause the brake calipers to fail to work properly.

Common signs of bad brake calipers are brake light coming on, grinding, squeaking or squealing noises coming from your brakes that indicate the brakes calipers may not be releasing properly.

Other symptoms of bad brake calipers are vehicle pulling to one side when stopping or pressing on the brakes, burning smell while driving, spongy or soft feeling brake pedal and vibration, wobbling, or scraping sounds when braking.

Bad brake calipers can cause your vehicle to roll or not stop at all so get the brake calipers replaced or replace the brake calipers if they're bad as soon as possible.
