Yes straight eight cucumbers just like many other cucumbers do climb and the cucumbers do best when they're allowed to climb something such as a trellis.

Tying the cucumbers up in a few places on the trellis will train the straight eight cucumbers to climb up the trellis or whatever you're trying to get the straight eight cucumbers to climb.

When cucumbers are allowed to climb they grow better and healthier and it keeps them off the ground to prevent getting rotted.
