The urgent care center is almost always cheaper than a visit to the emergency room.

If the condition or injury is not a complete medical emergency but still needs urgent care then go to the urgent care center instead of the emergency room.

However if it really is an emergency then going to the emergency room is better because urgent care doesn't treat all emergencies nor are they equipped to treat all emergency injuries.

Urgent care is much cheaper than the emergency room as urgent care costs around $100.00 to $200.00 or so depending on the urgent care center and an emergency room visit can cost as much as $1,800.00 to $2,000.00

People who use urgent care the most are women and those who cannot afford an ER visit for ailments or injuries that are not really severe enough to warrant an ER visit.

Men are less likely to visit the urgent care center than women.

Urgent care clinics tend to be busiest during the evenings and weekends, when primary care offices are closed.

There are as many as 6,339 urgent care companies in the US and at least 10,800 active urgent care centers or urgent care clinics in the US.
