Covering a wound actually helps the wound heal faster than leaving the wound open.
You can cover the wound with some Vaseline to help prevent scabs from forming and it keeps the wound moist as well which helps speed up the healing of the wound.
If you're bleeding some then you can and probably should put a bandage over the wound to stop the bleeding and protect it from infection.
