In very rare cases a needle biopsy can cause cancer to spread.

However most needle biopsies are done safely and no cancer spreads as a result of the needle biopsy if the person does have cancer.

A needle biopsy is done using a thin and hollow needle that is used to extract a few cells from a tumor mass and is minimally invasive and usually no cancer spreads as a result if you do have cancer.
