Medicare will cover the cost of nursing home care but only for a short period which is usually up to 90 days but sometime as long as 100 days.

After that time is up then you'll need to seek other coverage to pay for the patients long term nursing home care should they need to stay in the nursing home longer than 90 to 100 days.

Nursing home care is expensive and costs from $200.00 to $300.00 per day so you need some health insurance or some other way to pay for it.

When you speak to a nursing home and have the person admitted to nursing home care they can give you options on how to pay for the nursing home care and what payments they accept.

Some private health insurance will cover long term nursing care while others may not so you'll need to speak to the nursing home or speak with the health insurance company to see if they cover the cost of long term nursing home care.
