Do portable air conditioners work as good as window air conditioners do?

I have a portable air conditioner and they do cool a room. But they take longer and don't cool as efficiently as a window unit stuck in a window.

I use a portable air conditioner in my room because I don't want to block the one small window as much that's in my utility room.

Rest of the rooms I use window air conditioners.
