When you have the flu there's not much a doctor can do about the flu or flu symptoms.
You should stay home, get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, eat some soup such as chicken noodle soup, use a humidifier and take some over the counter cold and flu medicine.
The flu typically lasts from 1 to 2 weeks and if you're not feeling better after 2 weeks and/or the flu symptoms seem to get worse then you should see a doctor about it.
