If your dog has been bitten by a mosquito which is how the dog gets heartworms then it only takes around 1 month to 3 months for the dog to die from the heartworm.
So if your dog has heartworms the dog needs to be treated soon after the dog has been bitten from a mosquito to prevent the dog from dying from the heartworm.
