Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners are not really above either one.

Both Nurse practitioners and Physician Assistants are not really considered actual doctors but are instead mid level practitioners.

They do take on some of the roles that regular doctors take on such as prescribing medications and making diagnoses.
