Burning aluminum cans in a really hot fire to clean your wood stove or fireplace chimney can help some to remove some creosote.
But in a fireplace you might get a bad smell in the house from the aluminum can burning but in a wood stove you shouldn't smell the aluminum can burning.
I've used aluminum cans in my wood stove before to clean out creosote and it does help some but you still need to use a chimney brush to fully clean the chimney pipe at least once per year or every 2 years depending on how often you burn the fireplace or wood stove.
