Can you wear hearing aids in the rain?

Most standard hearing aids are not waterproof and should not be worn out in the rain or in the shower otherwise the rain or water will damage the hearing aids.

If you wear hearing aids and need to go out into the rain it's best to remove the hearing aids and keep them out of the rain until you get somewhere dry and then put the hearing aids back in.

You can buy waterproof hearing aids though so they do make waterproof hearing aids and hearing aid covers to protect them from rain and water.

You can purchase hearing aids that are waterproof but they're usually more expensive than standard hearing aids.

When going out in the rain you should use an umbrella to cover your head and protect the hearing aids from the rain or remove the hearing aids until you get out of the rain.

Getting hearing aids too wet can cause them to quit working and then you'll need to replace them which is expensive if you have to pay out of pocket for the hearing aids.
