Yes, you can make pizza dough with a hand mixer as long as you have dough hooks with the hand mixer and not the regular wire beaters.
When using a hand mixer to make pizza dough, keep the batch of pizza dough small and use a slow speed setting such as setting 2 to avoid burning out the hand mixer motor.
Keep your hand mixer on a slow setting of 1 or 2 when mixing or making pizza dough with the hand mixer so that the pizza dough doesn't climb up the dough hooks into the hand mixer machine.
And mix only single pizza dough amounts or small batches of pizza dough with the hand mixer as large amounts of heavy pizza dough will overheat a hand held mixer motor.
And watch the heat of the hand mixer.
If the outer casing of the hand mixer feels hot, stop the hand mixer immediately and finish kneading the pizza dough by hand.
A stand mixer is much better for mixing pizza dough using the dough hooks as well.
But if all you have is a hand mixer, the hand mixer will work just fine as long as you use the dough hooks and not the regular wire beaters.
Just be sure to not mix too much pizza dough at a time to avoid overheating the hand mixer.
You can also use your hands to knead the pizza dough as well but a hand mixer will work but needs a bit more patience than with a stand mixer.
I use my hand mixer with the dough hooks to make pizza dough and it works fine but I prefer to use a stand mixer, especially when making larger amounts of pizza dough.
