Using Betadine is a very effective way of cleaning and healing wounds and has been used for many years to treat and heal up wounds.
You can also apply some Vaseline to the wound to protect it from bacteria as long as the wound isn't too large.
Washing the area and using some hydrogen peroxide on the wound can also help keep it from becoming infected too.
