To make homemade brown gravy, you start by creating a roux with some flour and butter and then cook the roux of flour and butter until it's brown.
Next you whisk in some beef broth into the brown roux of flour and butter and then simmer it until it's thickened.
To enhance and improve the flavor of the homemade brown gravy, you can use some bouillon, Worcestershire sauce or meat drippings in the brown gravy.
Brown gravy is often also thickened up using a cornstarch water slurry to get a glossy finish of the homemade brown gravy.
To create the roux for the homemade brown gravy, simply melt 3 tbsp of butter or pan drippings in a saucepan over medium heat and then whisk in 3 tbsp of some all purpose flour.
Next brown the roux for the homemade brown gravy by cooking the roux mixture and stir constantly while cooking the roux.
Stir the roux mixture while cooking, and cook the roux until it turns a nice and rich brown color, that provides the base flavor and color of the homemade brow gravy.

After adding the seasonings to the homemade brown gravy, simmer the homemade brown gravy until it thickens to your desired thickness, which takes around 2 minutes to 3 minutes.
And if necessary, you can thicken your homemade brown gravy more, with a slurry of 1 tbsp of cornstarch that is mixed with 2 tbsp of cold water.
