Yes taking Gabapentin can cause depression in people who otherwise don't experience much depression.

Some other side effects of Gabapentin are clumsiness or unsteadiness, constipation, diarrhea, difficulty speaking,
drowsiness or tiredness, dry mouth and nausea.
