The IRS may call you and might leave a message if the call is urgent but the IRS will always contact you by certified letter before they even try to call you unless you're expecting a call back from the IRS.

The IRS will also never demand you make a payment to cancel an arrest warrant and will never ask you to pay your IRS taxes by a Gift Card.

If someone calls you and claims they're from the IRS and they ask you to pay in gift cards or they have an Indian accent then it's a scam and you should never buy gift cards for paying taxes or give out information to someone claiming they're from the IRS.

If the IRS wants to make contact with you then they'll always send a certified letter to you through mail first and then they'll try and call you.
