The hole or pit for an outhouse has to be at least 5 feet deep minimum but of course if you can dig the outhouse hole a little deeper it's always better.
You'll need to shore up the outhouse hole to prevent it from falling in on itself as well.
Check with the government though first to be sure you're allowed to have an outhouse because some places may fine you if you have one or are in the process of building one.
