A typical cold virus lasts from a week to 10 days and if the cold hasn't gone away in 14 days then I would see a doctor then to be sure it's not a more serious strain of the cold.

If the cold hasn't gone away within a week or 10 days and you're experiencing trouble breathing or chest pain then you could have Pneumonia or some other serious infection which may require antibiotics to treat.

If you're not experiencing Pneumonia or chest pain or trouble breathing then it's likely just a common cold which cannot be cured by a doctor.

If you have Pneumonia or other serious infections then you should see a doctor to get treatment.
