If you use a powered drain snake it could damage the pipes if not used correctly but using a hand plumbing snake should not cause any damage to the pipe since PVC pipe is pretty strong and can hold up to some abuse.
If you use a powered sewer cleaner or sewer or drain snake then it could potentially damage the pipes but it very unlikely.
