Why does my 7 year old son wake up in a poopy diaper?

My 7 year old is potty trained and wears diapers just at night, but lately he's been having poopy diapers in the morning?

Is this normal for my 7 year old son to be pooping in his diaper at night?

My 7 year old son wears Parents Choice size 8 diapers for bed wetting but he has also been pooping in them.

When your 7 son wakes up with a poopy diaper it could be that he has bowel issues and causing him to poop in his diaper while sleeping.

Or it could be that your 7 year old son is just waking up in the middle of the night and needing to poop and so he just poops in the diaper and goes back to sleep.

If it happens occasionally, then it's usually nothing to worry about.

Although if your 7 year old son continues to poop in his diaper during the night then he may need to see a doctor.

Bed wetting in 7 year old boys is perfectly normal and I used to wet the bed myself until I was 17.

I can remember when I was 7 years old and even 8 years old and wearing diapers to bed for bed wetting and sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night and need to poop.

So I would just poop in the diaper and go back to sleep.

A 7 year old boy pooping in his diaper at night is not normal if it's happening without him knowing about it.

But it could also be that your 7 year old son is just deciding to poop in his diaper during the night or before bed or in the morning instead of using the toilet.

If the pooping in his diaper only happens occasionally and he's otherwise healthy and has no bowel issues then it's nothing to worry about.

Just ensure that your 7 year old son gets cleaned up soon after he wakes up and you might want to put some diaper rash cream on his bottom before bed to help prevent a diaper rash.
