There's not much difference between a medical oncologist and an oncologist except for what part of the procedure they perform.

A medical oncologist is an oncologist that treats cancer and provides the medical care for the person with cancer.

A surgery oncologist does the surgery to treat cancer by removing tumors and a radiation oncologist provides radiation treatment for cancer patients.

So it's just different fields of oncology that the oncologist works in.
