The smallest baby in the world was a baby named Saybie who as born in December of 2018 and weighed only 8.6 ounces or 245 grams as birth.

Saybie was born in San Diego, California in December 2018 at just 23 weeks and 3 days of gestation.

Saybie was also roughly the size of a juice box or large apple and she was discharged from the hospital as a healthy infant after spending 5 months in the NICU.

The smallest baby "Saybie" was born at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns and her survival as a really premature baby was also considered a miracle by medical staff.

However aside from just Saybie, another smallest record surviving baby was a baby girl that was born in Germany in 2015 and weighed 8.9 ounces or 252 grams.

And another smallest baby was born in Tokyo in 2018 and weighed 9.45 ounces or 268 grams.

As a micro preemie baby, these babies often require months of intensive care in the NICU before they can hopefully go home and survive.

The specialized care that these preemie babies often require are specialized breathing machines and constant monitoring for survival.

A girl I work with now was also born very tiny and was not expected survive although she's in her 40s now and doing really well.

The girl I work with was born at 8.2 ounces and was also very tiny and it was not expected for her to survive.

Although she spend around 7 months in the NICU and pulled through and began gaining weight and she eventually started gaining quite a bit of weight after she was brought home as well.

She's also a miracle baby and a wonderful person as well and great friend.
