You may also be directed to fake login pages or fake pages that look legitimate and similar to websites like your bank, Amazon, credit card company etc.
Once you submit any information into these fake websites, the tracker can use that information to access your accounts.
A link can also contain hidden malicious code, which when executed in your browser can also take control of your device.
If you click on a website that is malicious, immediately disconnect your phone from the internet, such as turning off mobile data or WiFi.
Then run a scan on your phone with a reputable app to check for and remove any malware that may be on your phone.
Change any passwords for important accounts, especially if you think you may have entered the passwords on phishing sites.
And in some cases you might need to factory reset your phone.
If you accidentally clicked on a bad website or suspicious website on your phone or iPhone, close the browser or app immediately where the link was opened.
Then clear out your browser history and website data to remove any traces that could be lingering.
