The word "tai otoshi" is a Japanese martial art term, which literally means to "body drop" someone.

The Japanese word "tai otoshi" or martial arts term is a judo throw, that is also classified as a hand technique, in which one practitioner or "torii" uses a combination of a strong pull and also a forward stepping motion to off balance their opponent "uke" and throw them over their own leg.

Basically in martial arts when someone performs a tai otoshi technique, the person throws another person by using their body as a fulcrum, destabilizing the person diagonally before dropping the person to the ground.

Japanese martial arts, or Budō, are diverse combat systems rooted in samurai tradition, encompassing unarmed (Karate, Judo, Aikido, Sumo) and weapon-based (Kendo, Kyudo, Iaido) disciplines, focusing on physical skill, mental discipline, and spiritual growth, with styles like Shotokan Karate, Yoshinkan Aikido, and classic Jujutsu representing global favorite.

Except for the Chinese martial arts, known collectively as Kung Fu, it is the highly formalized forms of Japanese martial arts that dominate action movies and neighborhood gymnasiums.

The four most common styles of Japanese martial arts are aikido, iaido, judo, and karate.

Samurai used a variety of martial arts, with kenjutsu (swordsmanship) being a primary skill.

Other key disciplines included jujutsu (unarmed combat), naginatajutsu (for polearms), and kyujutsu (archery).

They also practiced iaido (swift drawing of the sword) and sojutsu (spear fighting).
