Hi everyone! I’ve got a couple STL files for cosplay weapons, but I don’t have access to a 3D printer or finishing tools. Is there a way to get someone to turn the files into a real, wearable prop for me?

You can use online 3D printing services or local communities to turn your STL files into real cosplay weapons, even without owning a printer or finishing tools.

You can upload your STL files to websites like PCBWay or Shapeways, which will print them for you and provide different finishing options.

Alternatively, you can find 3D printing commissions through online communities like Reddit's r/3dprintmything, or by asking in your local community or libraries.

Using 3D Printing Services
These services allow you to upload your STL file, choose materials, and receive a finished product.

Find a service: Websites like PCBWay and Shapeways offer 3D printing services.
Upload your file: Use the platform's interface to upload your cosplay weapon's STL file.
Select options: Choose your desired material, size, and any finishing services offered.
Receive your print: The service will print and ship the finished part to you.

Finding Local Help
Leverage local resources and communities to find individuals or groups who can print and finish your props.

Check local libraries: Many libraries now offer free access to 3D printers, though you may need to do the finishing yourself.

Connect with local groups: Reach out to local maker spaces, cosplay communities, or even war gaming groups to see if anyone offers printing or finishing commissions.

Use online communities: Subreddits like r/3dprintmything on Reddit are dedicated to connecting people who need 3D prints with those who can provide them.

Considerations

Finishing: Online services often provide finishing options, but if you use a local service or library printer, you may need to research post-processing techniques yourself
