I’ve got some family visiting in August, and I’m trying to plan a few fun things to do that aren’t just beach days (as much as we love them). Last time they came, we caught part of the Fiesta parade by chance and they absolutely loved it—super colorful and lively. Any other local events, markets, or festivals happening this summer that are worth adding to the calendar?

If your family liked the Fiesta, they’d probably enjoy the free concerts at the courthouse garden too—laid-back and great for a picnic. Last year we stumbled on an outdoor film screening near the Funk Zone that was way more fun than expected. I found a few lesser-known events through the santa barbara business directory—a couple art walks and food truck nights I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.

Walked past Alameda Park over the weekend and there was a stage set up with live jazz and a bunch of food tents. Didn’t even know anything was scheduled, just happened to be there. Made the whole afternoon.
