Your dog could be licking your face because the dog is trying to let you know that it wants to play or is just saying that he/she loves you.

Another reason for dogs licking peoples faces is because of the salt that peoples face and skin contains.

Dogs love that salty taste in their mouths and will lick peoples faces and skin to get that salt off your skin.

Dogs can lick your face because they're showing affection towards you and can sometimes mean a kiss to show that the dog loves you.

My dog licks my face a lot when I get home and I give him kisses on the forehead back.

The dogs like the salt as well from your face so it can be both reasons why the dog is licking your face.
