The cause of Castleman's disease is not fully known yet or fully understood.

Although some forms of Castleman's disease are linked to specific factors such as a rare blood disorder called POEMS Syndrome or even the human herpesvirus 8 also known as HHV-8.

But the cause of other forms of Castleman's disease and most particularly idiopathic multicentric Castleman's disease is not known.

Unicentric Castleman's disease typically involves a single lymph node enlargement and is often benign or non cancerous.

Multicentric Castleman's disease such as HHv-8 associated Castleman's disease is linked to the human herpesvirus 8 and is often in people with weakened immune systems, including in people with HIV.

POEMS associated Multicentric Castleman's disease is caused by a cancerous cell population in POEMS syndrome.

And idopathic multicentric Castleman's disease may involve autoimmunity, autoinflammation and other factors that are unknown.

And regardless of the type of Castleman's disease, Castleman's disease is associated with the overproduction of cytokines, and most particularly interleukin-6 (IL-6).

And problems with your immune system, including inflammation and autoimmunity also are thought to play a role in Castleman's disease and even genetic mutations can contribute to Castleman's disease.

Castleman's disease is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder which is characterized by an abnormal growth of cells in lymph nodes.

Castleman's disease can manifest in two main forms which is unicentric Castleman's disease which is localized and multicentric Castleman's disease which is systemic.

Unicentric Castleman's disease often involves a single lymph node region and might not cause any noticeable symptoms and multicentric Castleman's disease involves multiple lymph node regions and can also result in a range of systemic symptoms as well as organ dysfunction.
